About John

My purpose in life is to help people and organizations better understand, embrace, design, and realize positive change.

These days, we see and feel that the pace of change around us accelerating constantly. We also see and feel ourselves and our institutions failing to keep up with it and falling further behind. Every day, each one of us experiences the consequences of fear and resistance to change.

Far too often we focus on what will happen if we don’t change.

My mission is to ask and support people in answering a far more fruitful question: What could happen if we do change?

My story is one characterized by insatiable curiosity. The constant for my curiosity is the same one Heraclitus reminds us is life’s only constant: change.

As a kid, I’d obsessively tend to the tadpoles I caught in the creek so I could see them become frogs. On TV, Bill Nye taught me how manipulate conditions to turn a solid into a liquid, a liquid into a gas, and even a solid into a gas. Gandhi’s use of non-violence to dismantle the colonial power structure in India fascinated and led me to question how mass social change is most effectively driven.

In my early career, I set out to explore the world to challenge my assumptions and broaden my perspective of the human experience. As an educator, I relished the challenge of designing learning experience that would result in “light bulb” moments for my students. Most recently, I made my “student of change” status official through earning a Master’s degree in Positive Organization Development and Change.

Nowadays, I’m committed to supporting to the change-makers and leaders who are building a better world for all of us.

The approaches and tools I use integrate leading research from the fields of positive psychology, coaching, organization development, and business management to make change work for my clients.

  • As a coach, I build trusting and caring connections to ensure you feel supported to dream big, take risks, and experiment with new behaviors.
  • As a workshop facilitator, I meaningfully engage everyone on the team in uplifting experiences designed to create and sustain positive change.
  • As a keynote speaker, I engage audiences to explore and experiment with positive change dynamics in ways that shift their understanding of and appreciation for change.

Oh, and there’s a bonus. These experiences are designed to FEEL GOOD, because FEELING GOOD is proven to drive and sustain change.
